DBE Blogs: An insulating analysis of Room

“I have seen it. I have heard of it. To draw near without reprisal. Bridge the chasm. I have sought you out, but it is to no avail. I am immobilized, and when you come near, detaching yourself with everything, you will see in my eyes, Love. —Room

It's the year 2020, and a sudden pandemic hit the world from one moment to the next, forcing us all to stay locked up and unable to see our loved ones until further notice, but hey, it's not all that bad at first, you just have to ignore the noises in the basement. These voices, bad thoughts and ideas in our head that constantly remind us of the situation we want to ignore, are a solitary entity that rules the protagonist's mind.

Room, the result of Ouriel's isolation and repression.

What happens when you are locked in a world inside your head, forced to burn with your self-destructive evil thoughts? This world is known as The Complex, your own personal home where you can focus on yourself without the discomfort of the reality that torments you, we all have a space in our head, one specially designed to hold us, burning for eternity.

When someone can't stand the truth of real life, the suffocating isolation from the people they care about, this world is the escape from everything painful in our lives, but you can't live in it forever, at some point, we have to face our problems, and face the undeniable reality that we wanted to ignore, but that always manages to come out of the basement no matter how hard we try.

Before We Start…

There are several things you should know before you start reading this blog, which will make your reading easier.

First of all, the content used will be simple, we will use all the videos from the _ Boisvert channel, of course, but we will also include extra content, such as extra art, Xreamy's answers in his different social networks, and the codes and secret links that come out throughout the different episodes of the series. I also want to thank the Omori Vs Room blog for some details used here, this document dedicated to show the multiple secrets in the episodes, and many thanks to the _ Boisvert wiki, thanks to them I got access to many things like secret videos, without them, this blog would probably be much incomplete!

Second, as I'm sure you know, _ Boisvert is an incredibly ratty series, due to its abstract nature, the story and other things depend quite a bit on the interpretation of the viewers. This blog may seem short, but that's because we'll try to be as clear as possible about the lore and exploits, so it won't be too weird or incomprehensible to people who aren't used to the series.

Finally, due to the nature of _ Boisvert, this blog will obviously agree to things that may not be to the liking of many readers, such as strong themes about depression and suicide, really depressing topics or strong images, so discretion is advised, or stop reading if you don't like these things.

The presentation, background and conclusion images are made by Roxx! (Thank you buddy ♡)

Background

“The clawing isolation that embedded itself beneath my hearth. I can repudiate it no longer. This is my home. It is empty. It is cold”

Times are tough, but don't worry, they have been for everyone, and you can distract yourself by having a fixed routine. Get up at a reasonable time; it is impossible to always be productive early in the day, exercise constantly; you may not be able to go outside, but that does not mean you should neglect your health and fitness, they are still very important, ignore the noises in the basement. Stay productive, make sure you always do productive things and don't waste your time despite not being able to go outside. Ignore the basement noises... but what happens when the basement noises are louder than you? After all, no one can ignore the truth for that long.

Even a long time later, you are still locked in the basement, burning in flames. Why are you still in the basement? Why can the others get out and you can't? Why are you still decomposing? Why are you still in the basement, burning in flames? When the mind keeps whispering questions and truths, such as; “how long have you not seen the outside?”, “how long have you not seen your friends and family?”, the noises in your head take over you, these noises are an isolated and suffocated being, known as Room.

In Ouriel's head, a guy like any other, there is a space known as The Complex, a space created to isolate him from the depressive and lonely reality that suffocates him, giving him a place to ignore the outside world and focus on art, his passion, but this art is not always positive, various monsters of his imagination appear in it, Room is one of these monsters, torturing Ouriel's conscience by constantly reminding him of the reality he is living, but these thoughts can be repressed, The Complex is an aberration where the host is suffocated in his own pain and emotions, not allowing him to move forward, making the person burn in flames.

Love is not a guarantee within anyone's life. Anyone unfortunate enough could go through life without ever feeling love. It would be an entirely alien concept to them. As we grow closer to the core the words become harder to say. Soon I will be silent. It will be better that way” —The Complex

But not everything is bad, when depression suffocates your desire to continue and insinuates you to end it all, a light of hope arises that inspires Ouriel to not abandon his desire to move forward, known as Dogtooth, an entity of mysterious nature, but that does not hesitate not only to kill Puppet God to help Ouriel's mood, but also to confront The Complex. In his confrontation with the world that isolates Ouriel, one of Dogtooth's knives incidentally kills Room, who upon being rejected, was isolated in a prison away from The Complex, and after dying, finds himself in a mysterious entity: The Angel. In their short and monotonous dialogue, The Angel asks Room if he can imagine himself in the center of an empty room, to which Room replies that he does not know, and finishing the dialogue, proceeds to remove the angel's face, this unleashes in him a new state of divinity, with his wings to leave the world that had imprisoned him, and driven by anger, Room escapes, killing The Complex after interrupting in Dogtooth's fight. Dogtooth does not take this well, and in search of Room, decides to attack him with the intention of killing him, and after easily defeating Dogtooth, Room makes it clear to him that this is the only way that matters to help Ouriel, since Dogtooth's ideals will cut them off.

Interrupting Room's monologue, the angel appears before Room, questioning his actions, and asking him why he is still there, why he still considers The Complex his home, to which Room replies that he is owed nothing, and that his wings are gone, only to be killed in the back by Dogtooth, who after freeing Room from his suffering, makes with his hands the symbol of love. After all, Dogtooth loves Room and Ouriel, and confronted The Complex and killed Room to free them from the pain and suffering involved in existing in that place.

“I loved him. Its what he would have wanted. I delivered him from that place, Its for the best.” —Dogtooth

Perhaps the isolation died at that moment thanks to the desire to continue, but this does not mean that it has disappeared. Ouriel was in flames, and now it is what remains after the flames, made ashes. It is not so easy to free yourself from The Complex, even with the suffocating absence of Room, which is a poison for this world, Ouriel could not completely untie herself from The Complex, but if you try to look forward to a new day, maybe you cannot free yourself from your past, after all, it is part of your identity, but you can always try to improve yourself and not make the mistakes you made before.

Experience & Skill

Although, existentially, Room was born since the pandemic, when Ouriel was forced to isolate himself (5 years ago), the flow of time in The Complex occurs very differently from the real world, this is confirmed by Puppet God, who states that he and the other beings of that world have lived for decades, and the flow of time in The Complex advances abnormally, forward and backward without measuring well, this means that although Room exists from a few years ago, the time in The Complex gives him decades of existence.

As for his Skill, Room has proven to be quite good in hand to hand fights, he defeated a whole pack of wolves that attacked him at the same time, and practically without difficulty, he killed The Complex, a reality in itself, and dodged everything that Dogtooth threw at him, however, no matter how good he is at fighting, he has the disadvantage of not thinking things through during combat, and also getting distracted leaving his guard down, something that cost him his life in his fight against Dogtooth.

Abilities

Complex Physiology

The Complex is a vast world, with an enormous amount of mysteries and beings that inhabit it. Because The Complex was created as a world in Ouriel's mind so that he could go there and ignore reality, his emotions, both positive and negative, manifest themselves in beings that inhabit this realm, which is also embodied in a being, an aberration and at the same time a world fundamental to reality.

These beings have strange characteristics, existing as desaturated existences, and as concepts in themselves, they seem to share many abilities in common, or at least in the case of Room, who copied the movements of The Complex just by seeing it, so we will mention some abilities that do not need their own section and to which Room should have access:

Regeneration, Resurrection and Immortality

“And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell”

It's no surprise that Room is incredibly hard to kill, after all, he always comes back, no matter what you do.

Room is the representation of Ouriel's bad thoughts, the thoughts that exist in the deep part of his mind, they remind him how alone he is, and he takes control of it whenever Ouriel has bad thoughts or feels negative emotions, after all, even after Dogtooth killed Room in a way he thought was final, all Room needed was an unregistered entry point to go back and talk to Covenant even after he lost the Angel's powers, these entry points are in fact, systems that represent the different worlds in Boisvert, and also represent Ouriel's thoughts and emotions, such as love, therefore, Room will live as long as there are bad thoughts or emotions such as love in Ouriel's mind, and even if he is killed in a final way that changes Ouriel's personality, Room will return thanks to the entry points, existing as a platonic concept itself.

I love SunOreo so much jiji

As for other methods, the Angel's face gave Room the power to revive almost instantly and go to The Complex right after being accidentally killed by Dogtooth, he can also survive with his guts out of his body, and being comparable to other beings in The Complex allows him to have Immortality similar to other Ouriel emotions, such as Puppet God, who revived after dying at the hands of Dogtooth, and Dogtooth himself can survive after taking out his own heart.

BFR and banishment to Home

Among the various ways Room has to alter his body, he can open his chest to create a portal to the home. This is something quite interesting, as the home has a unique function, it is a prison to lock up the victim, and being locked up, they are exposed to suffocating loneliness and isolation, as a method of torture so that the victim burns eternally, constantly remembering the bad in their life. The Angel sent Room here as he was a threat to Ouriel, where he spent years burning in his own suffering, until he succeeded in destroying him. While he was a victim of this, Room can send others home through his portals, and because he has the Angel's powers, he should be able to create custom homes with the tortures of the people he imprisons.

Another use BFR got from stealing the Angel and Covenant's powers is that, both are able to send people to other narratives or stories, as seen when Dogtooth arrives in Covenant's world, not knowing where he is, since Covenant brought him to talk to him.

4th Wall Awareness

Room is fully aware of the audience and the fact that he is a fictional character, in fact, he has been seen to be able to step out of the video into the real world, as seen in the image above, he was also able to break into the real world of Covenant and The Angel, who write the script and narrative to tell the story of the series

Mind Manipulation

Existing as pure thought, Room has various effects on Ouriel's mind, when these negative thoughts are too powerful to retain at Home, and Ouriel suffers from the pain of not being able to see his loved ones, Room takes complete control over Ouriel, forcing him to harm himself and reminding him of the suffering he wants so badly to ignore. Although Ouriel can resist this control with enough willpower, Room is a constant threat to his mind and the minds of others.

Dimensional Traveling

Travel between realities is a concept that has been seen a lot in _ Boisvert, but it has not been fully emphasized, so I will take care to explain it well. Thanks to access points, Room is able to travel to other universes and mental worlds, just as Dogtooth does and manages to travel to the real world and other complexes, Room can return from the dead thanks to unregistered access points, even if Covenant resets all systems, Room will always return and be able to break into the real world

This ability to travel to the real world has been seen since the first videos, where Room appears in Ouriel's real world and manages to take control of it.

Body Manipulation

Room has a special ability to change his body in different ways, starting with the basics, since 0 we have seen him change the shape of his head, starting by having it in the shape of a star and then in the usual triangle, or even having a realistic face. He can manipulate his limbs, as seen in the image above, and with the fact that several times he demonstrated having a third arm that he can stretch to a great distance and at an enormous speed to attack his enemies, even in the official art he has been seen stretching his arms.

As seen above, Room can have several limbs at once, use 4 hands at the same time, and other inhabitants of The Complex can have many arms.

Reality Warping

It is not surprising that an entity like Room can manipulate reality to a great degree, this has been seen since the beginning, where thanks to his intense suffering, Room altered the structure of the home, eventually destroying it to free himself. Through the help of his Bird, Room can change the environment and tone, turning the whole scenario from white to red, which altered his fighting capabilities and aggressiveness, and by possessing the Angel's powers, he has access to a large kit of abilities that will be detailed later.

Power Stealing and Power Null

Definitely one of Room's most lethal and useful abilities in general, during the confrontation of Dogtooth and The Complex, Room had an encounter with The Angel after dying, after a little dialogue, Room ripped off the face of the angel, this not only gave him the ability to revive and transcend The Complex, but also gave him the other abilities of The Angel, stealing his powers.

This also works as a Power Null method, since by stealing the Angel's powers, the Angel was left without powers, we see that the Angel moves all the time by teleportation or summoning hands, but when Room took his powers, he began to move running, and later, we see that the Angel needed to have his face again to travel to his world, which means that Room can not only steal the powers of others, but leave them without powers.

Plot Manipulation

As we know that Room stole the powers of the Angel and Covenant and is able to break into their world, there is something quite special that Room has access to that we will detail here.

Covenant and the Angel from their world rule over the Boisvert Narrative, not only does the Angel constantly rewrite the series, but in the beginning of www.blind, we can see the real world, a place with a typewriter and the script of the series, but we also see a television where they edit everything, reviewing and editing the different systems (code worlds) that are in Boisvert, this is consistent with the statement of the angel, who says “I am perpetually aware of the narrative over which I preside and facilitate”, making it clear that they write the script, narrate the series and manipulate the narrative and history at will. In the image above, you can see how one of the things editable for The Angel is the Narrative itself.

This is not only used to reset and rewrite systems, but also emotions, The Complex and the different worlds are monitored and edited, and being mental worlds, beings and emotions can be added or removed from the human mind, such as “Amor” (love) lo que siento por sun

Conceptual Manipulation and Abstract Existence

The inhabitants of The Complex, whose physiology we explained before, go beyond being simple emotions, in fact, they are concepts in themselves. As mentioned in the script written by The Angel, the inhabitants of The Complex and emotions of Ouriel are platonic ideals, that is, perfect concepts, transcendental and independent of reality and the universe, which would require a great level of Conceptual Manipulation to even be able to interact with them.

Beyond that, characters like Dogtooth have been shown to be able to erase these concepts, such as the time he killed Room, changing Ouriel's personality and allowing him to move on, though Room was able to return is an unconventional method thanks to the Angel and unregistered entry points that can't be reset by Covenant. Or even Room himself was able to kill The Complex to improve Ouriel's life and be free from that horrible place, changing these concepts explicitly changes the mind of the host, as the absence of Room is a poison to the mind of Ouriel and The Complex in general. So the removal of concepts by Boisvert's characters allows them to remove emotions and thoughts from people's minds, changing their personalities.

Speaking of entry points, as we explained before, Room has the powers of the Angel, someone capable of editing the structure of The Complex, resetting and removing systems, this includes Ouriel's emotions, such as love and other concepts that govern The Complex, and as we know, love is mentioned as a concept.

Other Abilities

Teleportation: Room has been shown to teleport to places like the Covenant world and the Angel without physically moving, and being one with Ouriel, he should share his ability to disappear and appear somewhere else

Light Manipulation: Room is shown to be able to fire blinding lights from his eyes to act as a sort of flashbang

Adaptation: Even when he was locked up in the Home, a prison designed specifically to hold him by The Angel, Room's emotions and suffering became strong enough to alter and eventually destroy this place, freeing him from his bondage.

Time Stop: A more debatable ability, Room seemingly stops time while at a party, given how no one reacts to his breakdown

Flight: After being released from The Complex, Room demonstrated its ability to fly

Resistances

Reality Warping and Plot Manipulation: Even when Covenant restarted each system in search of unregistered entry points, Room was not affected, coming back to life thanks to unregistered entry points that did not affect him. He can also refuse control over the plot by disobeying the Angel's orders, and refuse at the end of the story.

Power Null: After the Angel took his face and powers, Room somehow got new ones, gaining the power to even overcome the angel and break into the world above the narrative.

Forms

Fragment

“An unregistered entry point was all you needed, but this sojourn ends here. It was many days when I last saw him, teetering on inversion and rage. He said to me, ‘What am I owed?’ To which I replied, ‘Nothing.’ He asked, ‘What is the cost?’ But he already knew the answer. And so I asked him, ‘What of your love? What of your trust? What of your fear?’ And he was already gone.”

This form, seen only once, is the result of Room becoming a Fragment, a state he obtains after death. This state allows Room to break into the real world of the Angel and Covenant, and unlike his previous access or Dogtooth access, he was not allowed to do so, as the Angel removed his face, but Room's power was enough to go into this domain on his own, being even impossible for Covenant to remove. By existing on a higher plane where _ Boisvert is fictional and an editable narrative, Room reaches a state of higher dimensionality, transcending the fiction of The Complex and the human world.

Ouriel

Ouriel, is the host of Room, he is the owner of the head where The Complex exists and where all the events of _ Boisvert occur, although he is a different entity, this in the beginning was attached to Room, Room himself can take control of Ouriel's will and mind whenever he has negative thoughts and can not retain the voices, and in part, they are the same person, but different stages of the same.

Ouriel hasn't demonstrated many things, beyond physically kicking down a door, and being able to teleport, though the latter is an ability he can only use in The Complex.

Support

Hands

During Room's suffering that constantly alters The Home, several black hands appear summoned by Room, this ability is more consistent after obtaining the powers of the Angel, who can summon hands to travel from one place to another.

Bird

During the course of video 0, we see Room being accompanied by a Bird from the beginning to the end, which follows Room and helps him at a critical moment. When Room is about to be attacked by a pack of wolves, the Bird turns the whole environment red, changing the tone of the series, making Room go from being scared to becoming completely aggressive, killing the wolves until the effect wears off and Room returns to normal.

The Angel

(Art by Inversion358)

“How many names have you given god? How many languages need you speak? The tower has shattered. You haven’t come to speak with me. There is a purpose here. Prophesy is laid bare and it means nothing. For I was him, not you.”

The Angel, creator of The Complex and narrator of _ Boisvert, is undoubtedly one of the most powerful Gods of this universe, an enigmatic and apparently neutral entity, because although he created The Complex to help Ouriel and imprison Room for being a threat, he ended up saving Room from certain death and helped him escape.

Although Room ends up revealing himself, the Angel is an ally for him, since when Room dies by a Dogtooth knife in his fight against The Complex, The Angel appears with Room and gives him a new power, his face, which Room takes to get all the Angel's powers and come back to life, and later it is revealed that The Angel gave Room this power to escape from The Complex and travel to a better place. In the extra artwork, Room is also seen surrounded by several angels. The Angel has different abilities that he gives to Room and that he can use to save him from death, these are…

  • Dimensional Traveling: The first power Room obtained from him was the ability to travel between realities, which he quickly used to escape from the home and unleash cases in The Complex.

  • BFR: The Angel was primarily responsible for locking Room in The Home, designing it as a personalized prison to emotionally torture him for eternity as he was a threat to Ouriel.

Feats

Overall

  • He was such a threat to Ouriel that The Angel was forced to create a realm to imprison him

  • He destroyed Home, a prison designed to hold him

  • Obtained the Angel's powers, so that he could leave The Complex and ascend to a better place

  • Murdered The Complex, interrupting its fight against Dogtooth

  • Breached into the real world, posing a threat to the narrative itself

  • Hizo llorar a Uriel

Beings from The Complex

“You are loved by all that you destroy.”

The Complex, Ouriel’s mental world, has a wide variety of benevolent and malevolent entities living in it, all of these entities being platonic ideals, and it is no wonder that Room is the strongest among them all. Room was able to subdue the Complex with a single hand and then kill it with just a glance, he also defeated Dogtooth easily in a fight, dodging all of its attacks and subduing it easily, despite Dogtooth previously killing Puppet God and giving a fight to the Complex itself. Room should be superior to almost every entity in this world.

Metanarrative Gods

“Blinded by your own hand, as surely as if you had held the burning wire. One thousand decisions, made in the name of a desaturated existence. Look up from your watch and tell me when you will grant forgiveness to the one most lacking.”

In charge of overseeing The Complex and the narrative, the Gods exist on a level unreachable to the inhabitants of The Complex, as deities that watch over the human mind. While Room could not reach them on a regular basis, he was able to rip off the Angel’s face and use it to steal his powers, and defeated Dogtooth in a fight without much difficulty, Dogtooth being able to dodge the Angel's attacks, cut off his arm and stab his hand, as well as being “more than the story”, which is important because Covenant states that no one is able to get out of the story, or it would be the end of their artificial lives.

Weaknesses

As powerful as Room is, he has something that plays against him, his mind. Room is someone who when starting a fight, attacks directly, without stopping and without planning before, and if he does not have a clear advantage (as in his fight against Dogtooth), this would be a big problem against enemies with a fixed strategy. Room is also someone who doesn't think much when fighting, as he gets distracted very easily and lets his guard down, like when he got distracted talking to The Angel, which left him vulnerable to an attack from Dogtooth, killing him.

His regeneration could also become a problem, as while, he can come back even if his concept is erased, the timing is unknown when he does not have the Angel's face. With the Angel's face, Room returned practically instantaneously after dying by Dogtooth, but since he no longer had his powers, he returned after an unknown time, which is implied to have been even days.

Finally, directly attacking Ouriel is a more than effective way to finish Room off once and for all without needing so much trouble for his Immortality, Ouriel is an ordinary young man, and killing him in the real world would clearly wipe out his mental world and all his emotions with no real way for them to return.

Q&A Section

Room VS Dogtooth: What is the scale of each? Who is superior?

(By Morta)

(By holdmeburning)

(By LetMeGo)

Room VS Dogtooth is definitely the most interesting internal confrontation in Boisvert, due to being rivals by nature, it is difficult to know who would really win, due to the fact that they only had one confrontation that was interrupted by The Angel, this is an important issue, because several of the most impressive feats come from Dogtooth, and it is necessary to know if Room is comparable

  1. Their first fight

Room and Dogtooth's first (and only) fight was, more than anything else, strange, due to the fact that both had fairly fixed advantages. Room outspeed Dogtooth by a large margin, dodged each and every one of his attacks, and subsequently, single-handedly subdued him. Before anything else could happen, the Angel appeared and interrupted the fight, and while Room was distracted, he received an attack from Dogtooth from behind, which killed him immediately, this makes it clear that Dogtooth had the power to kill Room with a single attack, but did not have the speed to do so, yet, Room is probably stronger physically speaking, because he subdued Dogtooth with one hand and almost no effort, this is coherent, since Dogtooth had many problems fighting against The Complex, who could disarm him and mirror his attacks, but Room had no problem killing The Complex with overwhelming ease. Room is definitely superior to Dogtooth in this state, however….

  1. Scaling to the Angel

After Room's death and resurrection, Dogtooth became clearly stronger than before, due to his constant confrontations with The Angel, Dogtooth could not only dodge the angel's attacks, but also cause him damage in several ways, such as cutting into his arm, stabbing his hand to free himself, and opening his stomach after stabbing him, this is quite important, because Room's power source comes from a part of the angel; his face, and Dogtooth being clearly superior to the angel, it is implied that he became stronger than before.

The Angel, after seeing that he cannot defeat Dogtooth even when he manipulated The Complex, said that Dogtooth will stop at nothing until he accomplishes his goal, this includes not only the angel, but probably the other characters of Boisvert, which is true, because Room already stood in Dogtooth's way and Dogtooth was victorious. Dogtooth is also capable of stabbing himself many times, being that a single stab was capable of killing Room.

  1. At their best moments

As for their best moments, where Room uses the Fragment and Dogtooth is in his most powerful form, things get a little complicated. The two are clearly superior to the Gods of the verse, not only because Room was able to forcibly break into the real world and made the Angel flee, but also because he had even lost the Angel's face.

As for Dogtooth, in his best state, he is quite possibly capable of killing the Angel, as implied at the end of the sequence, even though Dogtooth could already harm the Angel, he is clearly stronger because he is now capable of killing him. Covenant also gives us a very important statement about Dogtooth, by directly confirming that Dogtooth is more than story, what does this mean?

For that, we must go back to the recent Short “interlude: lesson”, where Covenant directly confirms to us that history is part of three points, these points are time, and life can exist in these three points, never beyond. This is said by Covenant, an entity that exists in the same world and level as the angel, and Dogtooth being more than history, while no one can surpass it, means that Dogtooth is possibly the most powerful character in all of _ Boisvert. A more direct demonstration, is when Dogtooth murders a Fragment, devouring its head, that is, he is superior to Room in his Fragment form.

With all that explained, the most possible and correct chain scaling in my interpretation is the following:

Dogtooth (Prime) > Room (Fragment) > Room (Angel’s Face) => Dogtooth (A_love_letter) => The Angel = Covenant> Room (Base)

But, for purposes of how debatable the topic is, I decided to scale Room to all of Dogtooth, possibly excepting his strongest form, since we don't know if Room can also overcome history.

Speed Feats

Due to the strangeness of this series, both visually and in story, we saw the need for a section dedicated to explaining in more detail the different feats of speed in the verse.

  1. Room escapes from The Complex

After obtaining the Angel's face, Room performed a rather strange feat worth talking about. With his new power, Room looked up, quickly seeing mouths on the ceiling which he used to get to The Complex and interrupt The Complex and Dogtooth's fight, while you could say these are just portals, it wouldn't make sense that Room needed the Angel's face to boost his stats and then leave, when he had portals that allowed him to do so at any time, and secondly, these are not really portals, as we see at the beginning of the video and in the fall of Puppet God's corpse, there is a direct entrance from The Complex to the place where Room was, which even though it didn't look that big, Room shot out at full speed to get there, being the entrance that allowed him to get to another universe.

If we use finite Ends, this would give an impressive speed of 815 Quadrillion times the speed of light, having traveled to another universe separated by the entrance that separates them, but, if we get technical, what Room did was to cross from one space-time to another by pure physical motion, a speed that cannot be calculated. You decide what to use!

  1. The Complex itself

The strongest argument for infinite speed in Boisvert comes from The Complex. In “Prelude (angels_warning)”, The Angel gives us a very straightforward confirmation about the size of The Complex:

“And it was said unto them that this was the price to be paid: a complex unending, but arid beyond all measure. In despair, they wept. Not of sorrow but bitterness. The avarice of their blind promise.”

Here, The Angel confirms in a very solid way that The Complex is unending and beyond all measure, i.e. infinite, having no end and being unable to be measured. While, you could argue that Room's speed is infinite having destroyed The Complex, there is a much more solid way to argue this. The Complex is literally embodied in a character named so, the reason this character is literally the place is because, after Room kills The Complex, the symbol of The Complex (the realm) is destroyed into pieces, a symbol that The Complex (the character) also has in its eyes, and the Covenant camera that watches over The Complex calls it directly as complex number 1, speaking of the other mental worlds out there.

That is, The Complex is a space of infinite size and beyond measure, embodied in a character that Room killed, not only this, Dogtooth was able to dodge The Complex's attacks, block his attacks and fight against it, but still wasn't able to land a single hit on Room until Room got distracted, leaving _ Boisvert with a pretty solid infinite speed.

_ Boisvert Cosmology

The Complex

The Complex is the main place where _ Boisvert takes place, a world personalized for Ouriel as a replacement for the real world, where he can isolate himself from everything and focus on his art, ignoring the reality he is going through.

The Complex is quite large, containing a clear horizon, cloudy skies, forests, and enormous structures, but this is just the beginning.

An angel confirms to us very explicitly that The Complex is infinite, calling it “unending” and “beyond all measures”, and at the same time it is referred to as a reality. All the characters who ascend to The Complex reach the level of a universe of infinite size, with its own reality.

The System / Data

Something must be clarified: although Boisvert operates with the abstract nature of a dream, it is also partly a digital world, something that is shown very clearly on many occasions, not only because everything exists on a computer that Covenant and The Angel use to edit the story, but also because many things prove that this world operates under data, such as Dogtooth using entry points to go from one world to another.

There are many entry points; some of these, Room and Dogtooth use to revive and travel to other different worlds as if they were loading a save file. These points are none other than other complexes (universes), and there are many reasons to believe this:

  • When editing everything, Covenant claims to have checked and restarted all the systems, and the Angel can record everything as if it were a video game on screen.

So, how many universes are there? Eh, it’s hard to say. Boisvert shows us many numbers that represent these entry points and systems, always random and very large; however, since we know that The Complex is a mental world in Ouriel’s head, we can say that there is one complex for each person in the world, totaling 8.09 billion people, and consequently, universes.

The Angel’s Plane

This is, without a doubt, the highest place in the cosmology of Boisvert, after all, it is where the creators of everything reside.

In this place, everything that happens in _ Boisvert is nothing more than fictional. In this sequence, we can see how the angel is in charge of creating the story of Boisvert; we see his typewriter and his equipment like a computer where he projects all the systems of The Complex and edits them at will. This makes sense, since Covenant states that the complexes are worlds of code, which he can edit and completely restart in search of unregistered entry points to prevent Room from returning, and seen as just a fictional Narrative. Boisvert's events even occur canonically in a video game that The Angel has inside a cartridge.

As for further support for its higher dimensionality, this is a place only accessible by Covenant and the Angel himself, to which the Angel gave Room permission to go by granting him his face, something that is revealed in the following dialogue:

ANGEL: Why are you still here? Why do you still call this place home?

ROOM: I am owed nothing.

ANGEL: Where is your song? What of your wings?

ROOM: They are forfeit.

ANGEL: Then there is nothing more to say.”

The Angel gave Room the option to leave The Complex and thus travel to his world, a place that transcends The Complex, but Room still wanted to stay in this place, which led the Angel to take away his powers and prevent him from ascending. And while characters like Dogtooth have reached this world, it was not of their own will, since he did not know where he was after being taken by Covenant, and on the second occasion, it was an angel who gave Dogtooth access to this place.

The Points

In what was the channel's last short to date, Covenant gives Dogtooth an interesting explanation of how cosmology works.

The Story is a physical span of time, segmented into three points, it can be both the beginning and the end, but the end is a moment in time as opposed to the story, plus the story itself is infinite

Covenant then states that life can only exist within these three points, never beyond, life is an amalgamation of actions done in these three temporal points

“The beginning is facilitated by the same objeto which comprises the present and the end, all mobile parts the whole. These enbling forces are the stage upon which our artificial like takes hold. They are also the forces which dictate lifes end”

There are some problems here, first of all, this could leave the possibility of Boisvert reaching higher dimensional levels difficult, because Covenant states that life cannot exist beyond the 3 points that represent time, and Covenant is someone who exists in the same level and world as The Angel. But, if you want to have another interpretation, you can still say that the fifth dimension in Boisvert is another time axis and not a spatial one, making sense that higher dimensional beings are not able to leave time, or you can also say that time in Boisvert is much more complex than it seems, since it contains the story, past, present and future compacted into one. This will be up to your interpretation!

Conclusion

The Complex: Universal+ (Infinite size)

The Systems: Multiversal

The Angel’s Plane: Likely Low Complex Multiversal (5-D) [maybe Outerversal if you believe the Vs Battle Wiki bullshit about R>F idk]

How does Room scale?

This section will be easy to explain, because the ways to scale Room to the cosmology are quite simple and easy to understand.

If we talk about The Complex, the main world, Room was able to physically destroy it and kill it with just a glance, and is shown to be notably superior to Dogtooth by subduing him with a single hand, even though Dogtooth can block The Complex’s attacks.

As for all the systems, Covenant and the Angel not only created them and see them as fictional, but are also able to completely restart them and edit them at will. This is relevant because Dogtooth can cut off the angel’s arm, stab him in the hand, and possibly kill him, and Room is empowered by the power he stole from the angel, being clearly comparable to him. Room was also able to travel to Covenant’s world and refuse to be erased by him, so Room scales to The Complex, the systems, and the Angel’s world.

Favorite Opponent

Morta: Honestly, I was initially pretty mixed with my opinions on this. I saw _ Boisvert in 2022 and 2023, and I've been a huge fan of Omori since 2022 (it's my third favorite indie game lol), the dynamics and how abstract _ Boisvert is for an analysis is what always made me hesitant on whether I wanted to see this on the show, especially since I already have my favorite for Omori.... however, seeing the great support this match up had recently thanks to Pin, I decided to give it another chance, playing Omori again and re-watching _ Boisvert (especially since there have been new episodes), and I realized is how amazing this idea is, in fact, it's among my most wanted, and I can't be more eager to see this happening in the show! It's amazing thematically regardless of your interpretation of Room's character, and the dynamic is entertaining, having some pretty unique design and aesthetic clashes and cool psychological horror potential. Room Sweep btw!

Aether: Okay so this matchup, weirdly means a lot to me. I say “weirdly” because truth be told, I’ve never played Omori. I know a lot about it, and I see quite a bit of myself in Sunny. But I’ve never touched the game. Room on the other hand is a character I got into because of this matchup. And _Boisvert is just amazing. I don’t even know how to begin to describe it because how do you even describe it in the first place? And Ouriel, like Sunny, is a character I see a lot of myself in. The struggles of the pandemic, that’s shit I relate to.

This matchup does a lot more than just personally click with me. It has the opportunity to bring in so much untapped material Death Battle has barely, if ever touched. Indie games are something we barely get on the show, but recently, with Death Battle going indie, and Among Us vs Fall Guys being incredible. I can see them going into the indie scene more. Omori isn’t the only one from a small creator, though. As _Boisvert would bring in a new independent web show that ISN’T from Rooster Teeth. All wrapped up with the bonus of not just another horror episode, but psychological horror? Sign me up.

It may ever fall short of my most wanted behind SteveTerrarian and SecondStickmin, but it’s bare minimum in my top five. Top three at most. It’s a matchup that combines mediums underrepresented in Death Battle, and on top of that could give a really cool fight with a fittingly emotional ending. And to me, that’s nothing short of beautiful. (thats a boisvert reference…)

Roxx: Yeah it vibes

Final Words

Hey, Morta here. I wanted to thank everyone who read this until the end, also to Aether for helping me to do this and also to those who I already thanked at the beginning of the Blog. This is one of the Blogs I enjoyed doing the most, _ Boisvert is a pretty special series for me, plus it's great, you should give it a try!

Last but not least
