DBE Blogs: A Mao Mao Analysis With All My Heart

“Yes, because a hero does what’s right, even if it crushes them inside.” —Mao Mao

We all aspire to be something, perhaps something that arose in our childhood, perhaps something we enjoy, perhaps to impress someone, but the important thing is that we all have a goal to pursue in order to become someone, and this Sheriff with a pure heart aspires to be someone his father can be proud of, someone whose name will go down in history.

Mao Mao, the pure heart hero.

We all need a hero, and a pure-hearted hero willing to give his life for those he loves is ideal in this case. Embracing the word “legendary,” Mao Mao continues on his path to become a legend who will leave his mark on history and prove that he is on par with his legendary family. Will he be able to become a legend and carry on the Mao legacy? We'll find out on DBE Blogs!

Before We Start…

The content used will be really simple, since Mao Mao only has one season of 40 episodes, but to make it less simple, I will use supplementary content, such as official video games (Parker Simmons was directly involved in these games, so they are not just any games where CN gave the rights to the developers, but rather ones in which the show's creator was directly involved), promotional art, and statements by Parker Simmons, so take this as a kind of Soft Composite, where I will point out when something contradicts the main show and should not be used normally.

As for crossover games, in that section we enter the territory of what is only part of Soft Comp, since they are crossover games where Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat appear. However, they are clearly not canon, nor will cross scaling be used, only the arsenal from these games. I mean, people give Puss things from crossover games, so it is fair in this particular debate…

But in addition to that, credit goes to the Vs Battle Wiki page for some scans and calculations, and to Point Five Predictions' Mao Mao VS Puss In Boots blog, where I participated a few years ago. However, I am writing this blog because I rewatched the show, noticed that some things are missing, and disagree with several things used in that blog, so enjoy, and let's begin…

Background

Music: Mao Mao Heroes Of Pure Heart Opening Theme Song

“Another flawless victory where I did everything right.”

If there is anyone who embodies the words “brave” and “legendary,” it is the warriors of the Mao family, a family of legendary warrior cats who travel the world on adventures. This family has passed down knowledge for generations to the present day, where the legendary Shin Mao gave birth to five daughters and one son, and gave them all a golden weapon when they reached the necessary age.

A golden spear that can pierce anything

A golden scarf that allows one to travel on the winds at great speeds

A golden hat with infinite storage space

Golden bangles, which offer impenetrable defense

Golden eye contacts that offer sight beyond sight

But we forgot someone, the youngest brother of the family, Mao Mao Mao (yes that’s his whole name). Having forgotten him, Shin Mao gave him a spare glow stick, which he grew very fond of.

“You know, I think your sword's...more than just a glow stick. It's really special 'cause you're really special.”

Mao Mao named this sword Geraldine, his best friend, with whom he had many adventures and grew up alongside, being his only friend in the worst of times. But despite having a weapon and training with it to improve, Mao Mao was still too small to be a real adventurer, so during his adventures Shin Mao would leave him in the village where he spent his childhood. Mao Mao tried to make friends by helping a villager tie knots but tying him up instead, helping to paint but doing it so quickly that he set everything on fire, or helping to catch butterflies but catching wasps instead.

“I wonder what fun adventures my family is having. Maybe if I was stronger, they'd bring me with them. But no one likes me!”

Rejected by everyone, treated as a weirdo, and unable to make friends, Mao Mao felt inadequate because he was small and weak. If he were stronger, his family would take him on adventures and train him to be a hero like his sisters.

But not everything is sad in little Mao Mao Mao's life, as he met a little dog, Bao Bao, who insisted on playing with him, angering Mao Mao, who tried unsuccessfully to get rid of him. Accepting that he couldn't get rid of him, Mao Mao decided that he will help him with a plan. Get rid of Flimborg, a monster to whom the whole village makes offerings every year out of fear, and once he got rid of him, all the villagers would want to be his friend, so he put this plan into action. After going to the Flimborg's cave, he made it arrive at the village earlier than it should have, and after all the villagers fled in fear, Mao Mao and Bao Bao used their trap to send it flying into the sky, finally saving the village, but... it wasn't what they expected. The villagers confronted them, because Flimborg was a creature they all loved, and Mao Mao had sent him away on his birthday, so they chased after them both. But instead of feeling bad for ruining everything, Mao Mao realized he had gotten what he wanted: a friend.

Theme: More More Waiting

“This is so weird. I mean, I screwed everything up, and I didn't make a single friend. I should be sad, but I'm not. Why is that? You're right! It's because I have you, and you're my friend. Yeah!”

Years later, Mao Mao and Bao Bao's friendship continued into their teenage years, where they had countless adventures. In one of them, they beat up a snake and an orangutan that tried to attack them in the jungle, which will be very relevant in the future, but not now. In one of their many adventures, the two ventured into a cave where they would find a legendary amulet, facing a monster with a scar, and when they obtained it, Mao Mao held a giant rock to flee, but instead of helping him, Bao Bao ran away, distracted by a butterfly, leaving Mao Mao with the rock on top of him. After dropping it, his tail was crushed and then torn off. That day, Mao Mao lost more than his tail and his best friend; he lost his innocence.

Years after wandering the world on his own, Mao Mao was attacked by a group of criminals, who were unprepared for the beating Mao Mao would give them. After everything caught fire, they fled, leaving behind a member of the group whose foot was trapped under rocks. Mao Mao, taking pity on him, decided to save him and give him a chance to redeem himself, becoming friends with Badgerclops, his new companion.

“I appreciate your honesty,

friend. How about we work together to

reinstate those moral standards?”

This new duo of friends went through a lot of adventures together, facing monsters, defeating enemies, and experiencing many other things, until, on their journey to become legends, Mao Mao decides to face the sky pirates, led by the fearsome Orangusnake. Mao Mao and Badgerclops infiltrated the ship, fighting against the pirate army, and after losing the vast majority of his army, Orangusnake was left with only the most useless pirates available. Mao Mao and Badgerclops fled on the Aerocycle, and because they were talking without looking at the road, they crashed into the legendary ruby that guarded the legendary Pure Heart Valley. Upon discovering that he had left the village unprotected from monsters by damaging the ruby, he is forced to become the Sheriff and protect the village, ending his days of traveling the world. However, a resident of the kingdom, Adorabat, was fascinated by the two heroes after seeing them beat up a monster, and although she is rejected, she follows them.

Mao Mao and Badgerclops confront Orangusnake, where Mao Mao discovers that the valley is a legendary place, hidden and protected by the legendary ruby, and if he protected it, he would become a legend, encouraging him to protect the village. To end the fight, Badgerclops throws a bomb that Orangusnake catches, but Adorabat steals it, and after repeating Mao Mao's phrase about how a hero does what is right, she throws it at the ship's engine, defeating the pirates and returning to the village, where, after showing her bravery, she is finally accepted by Mao Mao to be part of the group.

“You remind me of me, and I'm incredible. I'd be a fool not to recruit myself.”

Now a trio, Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat protect the kingdom and serve the king, defeating monsters every day, defeating pirates and stopping them from stealing the ruby several times a week, and constantly maintaining order in the village. During one of these many adventures, Mao Mao receives a call: it is his mother, who tells him that his father will visit him to see what he has been doing lately. Shin Mao shows up at the house, breaking everything with his large size and acting rude to everyone, humiliating and embarrassing Mao Mao, unimpressed by anything they do or anything in the kingdom, until, while chopping wood in the forest, a giant monster appears. Shin Mao insists that Mao Mao let him fight so he doesn't embarrass himself, In a fit of rage, Mao Mao yells that Shin Mao is just afraid that Mao Mao will embarrass him, causing them to get distracted and the monster to deliver a near-lethal blow. After this impact, Shin Mao is sent flying and comes out of his armor, revealing how small he is, and Mao Mao saves him from an attack by the monster, asking him to let him handle this.

Mao Mao faces the monster in a tough battle, being sent flying beyond the clouds and crashing in front of his father, who looks at him with pride and even cries when he sees what his son has become, who ends up winning and disintegrating the monster. Mao Mao returns Shin Mao to his armor, saying that he just wanted to prove to him what he is capable of, since Shin has always considered him small, but before he can finish his sentence, Shin Mao puts a hand on his shoulder and says through tears…

“Mao Mao, my son… you...are not...small.”

Shin Mao then leaves, thanking Mao Mao for the tour of the kingdom, leaving Badgerclops and Adorabat crying because it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen, and leaving Mao Mao finally at peace with himself, no longer considering himself small or weak, and knowing that he is big enough to make his legendary father proud. But, after all, Mao Mao still has a long way to go and many adventures to experience before becoming a true legend…

“With friends like you, Adorabat, every adventure can be a perfect one. Who knows how many await us. Stop it.”

Experience, Intelligence and Skills

Experience

Mao Mao's experience is not something to be taken lightly, as Mao Mao is not the age of a normal cat, but is in his 30s, and has been fighting since he was a child, wielding his sword at a very young age. In his teens, Mao Mao traveled the world with Bao Bao, defeating villains and exploring dungeons in search of treasure. As an adult, Mao Mao continued to travel the world and beat up criminals who attacked him in groups, which is how he met Badgerclops.

On his way to becoming a legend and protecting the Pure Heart Valley, Mao Mao claims that he faces monsters every day, claims that he has adventures every day, and Badgerclops claims that they defeat pirates several times a week, that is to say; Mao Mao is over 30 years old, training since childhood with the hero's code (which contains strategies from the entire legendary Mao family tree), traveling the world and having countless adventures, defeating monsters literally every day and pirates several times a week.

Combat

Every legend must be a good fighter, and Mao Mao is no exception, as he not only masters samurai and ninja techniques and different types of weapons (which will be detailed later), but also knows various types of martial arts and constantly trains to improve them. Although he makes mistakes such as being overconfident, he remains an incredibly agile and skilled fighter. Among the fighting styles Mao Mao practices, he is an expert in MMA and, of course, kenjutsu, an ancient martial art practiced by Japanese samurai, focusing on fluidity, precision, and power with a deep emphasis on mental discipline, having his own dojo to train in.

Intelligence

He is incredibly intelligent in general, not only because he learned everything he knows without having gone to school, but also because he has detective skills, improvisation skills, and incredibly quick thinking, such as the time he sensed a sulfuric pain in the king, so he manipulated Badgerclops to distract him and in a fight lasting a few seconds, Mao Mao found his schedule and made a mold of his paw that he would use for the secret entrance that he didn't know about, all without being noticed and in a fight lasting a few seconds.

Mastery of weapons

Mao Mao is clearly an expert in handling different weapons, the greatest example being Geraldine. Although not one of his sisters' legendary weapons, Mao Mao's training enabled the sword to disintegrate a monster capable of causing problems for the legendary Shin Mao, who considers the sword to be nothing more than a toy that he gave to Mao Mao as a discard.

Mao Mao has mastered different techniques with his sword, which he has been using since he was a child, but this is not his only weapon. He has various typical ninja weapons in the lower bunk and uses shurikens and smoke bombs with great agility.

Ninja skills

Mao Mao is as cunning as a ninja, but in addition to wielding ninja weapons, he has several ninja skills, such as stealth, wearing a dark suit to infiltrate the sky pirates' ship and put them to sleep with pressure points. He can also use the color of his fur to camouflage himself in the dark and sneak through the king's castle.

Emotional Manipulation

It's no surprise that a cat is a master manipulator. Mao Mao has learned about emotional manipulation, which he used to annoy Badgerclops and convince him to return to his original size. In a matter of seconds, he manipulated Badgerclops into subduing the king while he made a mold of his paw to use later, and tricked Orangusnake and the other sky pirates into distracting themselves long enough for Badgerclops to disarm them.

Mastery of disguise and Imitation

Being a master of disguise seems useless at first, but Mao Mao puts it to good use thanks to his ingenuity, having disguises for everyone in the kingdom, even people he has just met. He can slip into any costume, no matter how small, even imitating the voice perfectly and somehow mimicking the powers and characteristics of the person he is imitating, such as being able to fly when dressed as Adorabat—don't ask how.

Equipment

Geraldine

“All that training, the adventures we had, the monsters we defeated... you've been with me through all of it, Geraldine. I know, now… it's not the sword that makes the hero: it's the bond!”

A glow stick granted by Shin Mao after giving legendary weapons to Mao Mao's sisters, but for Mao Mao, it is his most precious possession. Having been with him since childhood, Geraldine is a magic sword that serves as Mao Mao's main weapon and has a wide range of abilities.

Boomerang

By bending the sword, Geraldine can turn into a boomerang that goes back and forth, only it's not entirely... safe.

Levitation

Mao Mao can spin his sword so fast that it causes a helicopter effect and flies through the air.

Ice Slash

Mao Mao freezes enemies he hits with Geraldine, leaving them in a block of ice and unable to move.

Light Attacks

These area attacks originate from Geraldine, disintegrating all nearby enemies without leaving literally anything behind, passing through their bodies without destroying or physically damaging them.

Lunar Lash

Definitely Mao Mao's most powerful attack, Lunar Lash is a massive light attack that completely disintegrates giant monsters without leaving anything behind, similar to his previous attack, but with much greater range. However, it is not a destructive attack, but rather disintegrates enemies without causing destructive damage, passing through the roof of the house without destroying anything. It’s also called as the power of the everlasting light.

Clothes

Mao Mao's clothes are not only important because, well, nobody likes to be naked, but also because they were the first gift Shin Mao gave Mao Mao, and they have several uses, such as storing Mao Mao's belongings, and with enough wind, they can be used to fly long distances to a limited extent, or even without a prior boost!

Aerocycle

The trusted vehicle of the Sheriff's department, just a whistle away, the Aerocycle can carry the Sheriffs at once, is clearly better than moving by displacement, and has several interesting upgrades and powers that Mao Mao can use in combat.

Smoke Bombs

Usually carried by Adorabat, smoke bombs can limit an enemy's vision to gain an advantage, but they are also incredibly irritating, limiting breathing and causing allergies.

Growth Locket

After saying a cute phrase, the wearer of this pendant can grow massively and amp strength, although this makes them much weaker emotionally and causes them to lose control of themselves. The size of those who grow with this amulet varies depending on the scene, but it has been calculated at 1,283.36 meters for Mao Mao.

Fear Cannon

This Cannon created by Carmille has a rather unique ability: it penetrates the victim's brain, extracts their deepest fears from their subconscious, and manifests them as incorporeal shadows that physically attack those nearby. But don't worry about that, it's ethical.

They can be defeated physically, but this can only be done once the fear is confronted directly, since they are manifestations of subconscious fear, facing them will destroy them.

Badgerclops’ Arm

Although it is a necessity for Badgerclops, it is a supplement for Mao Mao, who has his own identical copy of this robotic arm. When using it, Mao Mao gains the ability to analyze the environment and the enemy in an advanced way, obtaining greater knowledge and different powers that come with it, although he does not control it 100%

Binoculars

If Mao Mao needs to see something far away, he can always pull his spare binoculars out of his stomach (ew)

Spears

Made by the Pure Heart Valley Sheriff's Department. Just don't touch the pink one—that one belongs to Badgerclops.

Disguises

One of Mao Mao's greatest skills is being a master of disguise, having a million costumes, of all the inhabitants of the kingdom and even of people he barely knew... somehow, also including things from the environment.

Cobbler

Mao Mao's favorite food, and at the same time his childhood trauma. One of the heroes' rules is that they cannot eat desserts, forcing Mao Mao to destroy the cobbler he used to buy as a child, as he was forbidden from eating it. However, after tasting it, Mao Mao released years of repressed desire and accessed his Golden Truth Form. In The Perfect Adventure, consuming a certain amount of cobbler gives Mao Mao access to his golden form for a few seconds.

Hero’s Code

The Hero's Code is a book belonging to the legendary Mao Mao family. It contains generations of advice, rules and strategies that the legends of the Mao surname have written and followed as a family tradition since its inception. Although some rules are made to be broken, right?

Jelly of the Best items

In this game, Mao Mao summons Adorabat, who enters the battle with different power-ups and returns a few seconds later with new ones

Name

Effect

Bomb

It is a normal bomb like the others Mao Mao has. It is used to damage the enemy when thrown, and has the same design as the bomb used by Badgerclops in the first episode.

Ice Bomb

This bomb freezes enemies upon explosion, trapping them in a giant block of ice.

Grapple

This hook pulls enemies toward it when it grabs them.

Fan

It pushes people inside the monster to prevent Mao Mao from hitting them.

Kart

Look at him go!

Spade axe

Let him cook.

Gas mask

Self-explanatory. This mask is useful against strong odors such as the foul smell of Badgerclops.

Radios

If help is needed, Mao Mao can use this to call Badgerclops and Adorabat into action.

Limiters

These pieces were used by Mao Mao on his legs, limiting his movement and giving him massive weight, and after using them, Mao Mao's legs developed massively, giving him much greater power. While it might seem that it was only because of the weight of wearing them, Badgerclops put them on his face, becoming incredibly handsome, so wearing them on any part of the body implies a dramatic and temporary improvement.

Tony

Tony (yes, he named it) is Mao Mao's sofa bed, but it's not just that. It also has an option that turns it into a weapon of war with robotic arms and legs, and cannons that shoot trash.

Machine gun

What

Handcuffs

Self-explanatory

Enchanted Amulet

The amulet that Mao Mao and Bao Bao were looking for when they entered the cave where it all ended. Because Bao Bao was the owner for several years, the most precious memory engraved on the amulet is Mao Mao, being best friends forever. Awwww

Shuriken

Mao Mao has a large number of shuriken; he wouldn't be a real ninja... (samurai? Whatever) if he didn't have them.

King’s foot mold

It's usually useless, unless Mao gets lucky and manages to guess that he'll need to use it in a specific place.

Abilities

Cat Physiology

Mao Mao's name derives from the Chinese “” (māo), which means “cat.” Mao Mao is an Oriental shorthair, an Asian breed known for their daring personalities, high energy, and sleek yet strong and muscular bodies. This gives him enhanced senses that allow him to hear everything and fight even with his eyes closed in a way.

Being, well, a cat, Mao Mao has different abilities related to his physiology, such as acting like a regular cat, spitting out things from his stomach that he stores for later instead of hairballs, being incredibly agile and silent, and, of course, being a master manipulator.

Regeneration

Mao Mao has incredibly high regeneration, after all, he can't become a legend if he dies first, right?

Mao Mao has been shown to regenerate missing parts of his ears, broken teethcompletely cut hairto be crushed flat with broken legs and arms, and on one occasion, he literally broke every bone in his body until he was left as a flattened piece of cloth that could barely move, all on a day of rest.

In his best case of regeneration, Mao Mao returned instantly after exploding completely into dust. This might seem like a gag, but at the beginning of the episode, Mao Mao says that he could literally explode, which is what happened, and even destroying his entire body would not be enough to kill him.

Body Control

Mao Mao has changed his body multiple times, such as gags where he makes his head biggercan change the direction his head is facingbend his limbs in totally abnormal ways, store things in his stomach, and force his body to break his entire skeleton to move like a boneless jellyfish.

He can also shrink his body and is flexible enough to fit into costumes much smaller than himself.

Non-Physical Interaction

Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat were able to fight and destroy the shadows. These shadows are essentially emotions, representations of the king's fears, and the shadows of the Sheriff's department taking shape to fight.

BFR

Mao Mao's favorite way to end any fight! By throwing an enemy with great force, Mao Mao can send them flying into the sky, beyond the horizon. He has done this with various monsters, and the sky pirates. In the episode "Lonely Kid," a villager mentions that Mao Mao launched the Flimborg into the sky. This is useful against stronger enemies, as it does not rely on AP, but rather on Lifting Strength, so it can be used to get rid of nuisances that could not normally be defeated if they do not have sufficient travel speed.

Double and triple jump

Mao Mao can do double and triple jumps in the air.

Boost

When using a boost while jumping, Mao Mao attacks with force, generating fire and destroying ice attacks.

Astral Projection

Meditation is a state of total concentration and tranquility that can be achieved by reaching maximum relaxation, as Adorabat and Badgerclops did. To ascend to this state, one must submerge their fears deep into the subconscious, clearing the mind and leaving the body behind, ascending to a higher planeor simply having a toothache—any method will do!

The soul is obviously intangible, it can change its form and be disintegrated without suffering real damage, and it has powers such as duplication or teleportation and dimensional travel, reaching the Astral plane. The method of return is simple, the user must face and overcome the fears that led them there in the first place, returning to the earthly world with a fall from the astral plane to the real world in a matter of seconds.

Ultra Instinct

Thanks to his heightened senses, Mao Mao can perceive his surroundings at abnormal levels, allowing him to hear everything and dodge things with his eyes closed.

Stomach Storage

Mao Mao is not like other cats. Not only does he spit out hairballs, but his stomach also acts as a kind of dimensional storage space that can hold things as large as a dolphin. He can store the things he needs inside and spit them out whenever he wants, although it may take a while and he may not spit out the object he needs on the first try. Ew.

Sound Manipulation

Mao Mao is not only a master of disguise, but also of imitation, perfectly changing his voice to match others' just by listening to them.

Flying

Yeah he just can fly… don’t ask.

Heat

Mao Mao has different ways of generating heat, such as setting his fist on fire and using it to strike enemiesgenerating explosions in himself or when striking enemies, setting his sword on fire, having an aura of fire when attacking with more force, or generating an aura of fire when he is sick or even without being sickSomehow, Mao Mao's normal attacks generate enough heat to leave a monster smoking after one hit.

Summoning

Does Mao Mao need quick transport? No problem! The Aerocycle is just a whistle away, responds only to Mao Mao, and arrives instantly when called!

Explosion Manipulation

Mao Mao can generate explosions in different ways besides using his equipment, such as self-destructing and generating a massive explosionhitting an enemy and causing them to explode for no reasonor falling on top of a monster and causing it to explode. I feel like Mao Mao likes explosions...

Subjective Reality

Mao Mao is capable of making the things he imagines come true if he believes hard enough, as is the case with Torbaclaun, a creature invented by the people of the kingdom. But when Mao Mao begins to convince them that it really exists, Mao Mao starts to be hit and lifted by an invisible force that others can touch, and even hits Badgerclops in the face. Mao Mao can decide what the creatures he imagines do, since the Torbaclaun hit Badgerclops just as Mao Mao said it would. Other inhabitants also have this power, as they mention that the Torbaclaun causes explosions, and then things explode for no reason.

4th Wall Awareness

Mao Mao has shown that he can not only move transition scenes to advance from one scene of the episode to another, but he can also physically interact with gags and memory bubbles and also cut the flashback curtains. These curtains can also be used to teleport from one place to another in an instant.

Adaptation

Although the jelly monster was immune to Mao Mao's attacks, copying and adapting to each of his actions, Mao Mao was able to defeat and disintegrate it by adapting quickly.

Another case is that despite initially being affected by Adorabat's power, which consists of hurting people's feelings with hurtful words by attacking them with energy blasts, Mao Mao was able to adapt quickly, ignoring her attacks by telling bad jokes.

Pressure point

One of Mao Mao's ninja techniques is a blow to a specific spot on the neckwhich instantly knocks out enemies, similar to what the penguins of Madagascar do, except that somehow it works on metal necks (???)

Camouflage and Stealth

Mao Mao is a master of stealth, able to infiltrate the king's castle without being seen or heard by the guards, and the darkness of night helps him to be practically invisible if he closes his eyes.

Toon Cup Abilities

In the game Toon Cup, there are different abilities that all playable characters such as Mao Mao and Badgerclops can use to gain an advantage

Mao Mao returns physical attacks by parrying them

Standard Slice

Mao Mao cuts enemies into several pieces

Fearless fist

Mao Mao sets his fist on fire and strikes enemies with more force than normal, sending them flying

Resistances

Forms

Sick Mao

After being frozen, Mao Mao caught a cold, and although this weakened him, he gained new powers that proved incredibly useful in a fight, helping him defeat an enemy that would normally have been impossible to defeat.

MAO SICKNESS

Mao Mao's cold is highly contagious, and contact can cause infection, leading to sneezing, runny nose, and becoming incredibly weak physically to the point of being unable to move small things.

Fire Aura

When he reaches his maximum state of sickness, Mao Mao gains a fiery aura around him that acts as a shield, preventing ice attacks from touching him, as they melt on contact. Also useful against enemies weak to fire, I wonder if there are any in particular…

Sneeze

Mao Mao's sneezes in this state are much more dangerous than they might seem, as one sneeze was able to blow up the ice dragon, having such power and range that it moved the clouds in the sky, erm what the Wario

Legs

Oh my god what

After using the limiters, Mao Mao's legs became massively stronger, allowing him to use them to fight and make huge jumps that make him appear to fly

Giant

With the amulet, Mao Mao can transform into a 1,283.36-meter giant, becoming more emotionally sensitive but much stronger, larger, and faster physically than in his base state

Golden Truth Form

Years of pent-up desire... unleashed in a golden transformation that radiates Mao Mao's power! In this form, Mao Mao becomes much stronger and faster, as well as gaining new abilities. Although it is situational in the show, Mao Mao can achieve this transformation by eating cobbler in The Perfect Adventure

Flying

He can fly, Self-explanatory

Light Attacks and Paralysis Induction

The final attack of this transformation is a light that shoots out of Mao Mao's fist, so bright that you need to wear glasses to avoid being blinded, and it paralyzes anyone who is directly hit by it.

Support

Pure Heart Valley Sheriff’s Department

Please note that these summons are exclusive to the games, which, while not contradicting the show or the story in the slightest, are still only supplementary material, so it's up to you whether or not to take them into account. I mean people give Puss absolutely everything, this is only fair…

Badgerclops

Mao Mao's best friend and partner (co-hero), whom he met when he was still a thief trying to fit in with the others. Mao Mao is able to summon Badgerclops in The Perfect Adventure, using a power-up that makes Badgerclops appear in the same location as Mao and attack enemies. But in addition to that, he is the original owner of the arm explained in Mao Mao's equipment, so he can use all of its powers to their fullest, plus…

Gelatin

An upgrade to Badgerclops' arm allows him to trap enemies in sticky gelatin blocks that won't let you go no matter how hard you try, and it tastes incredibly bad to ensure that no one eats it to escape.

Cannon

Stolen from sky pirates, this cannon fires lasers so powerful that they function as BFR, like... 90% of the things in this show for some reason.

Purifying crystals and stinky aura

After acquiring purifying crystals that supposedly eliminate bad odors, Badgerclops developed a foul aura. This smell could kill plants in an instant, cause people who smelled it to faint, and be used as a weapon by means of a fan that absorbed the bad smell and shot it out like a tornado.

He’s so stars

Bombs

These bombs belonging to Badgerclops can even be used in different games, where they have a huge AoE and cause heat that disintegrates enemies.

Rope

Self-explanatory

Mao Mao and Badgerclops use the broken pieces of their broken couch to throw it on top of the enemy and sit on top of it

Piggyback blaster

A group attack performed by Mao Mao, Badgerclops, and Adorabat, a triple giant attack that sends flying monsters so heavy that they caused problems even for Mao and Badgerclops together

Adorabat

The bravest member of the team, Adorabat is a girl who joined the Sheriff's department thanks to her enormous courage, proving to be much stronger than she appears, aspiring to be a hero like Mao Mao and fighting alongside him and Badgerclops every day. Mao Mao can summon her in both The Perfect Adventure and Jelly of the Best, where Adorabat appears to attack the enemy Mao Mao is fighting.

Scream

One of Adorabat's most powerful abilities, initially only capable of popping bubbles, but Adorabat's super scream became powerful enough to knock down an entire cave.

Regeneration

Like Mao Mao, Adorabat has two instances of regeneration: one is regenerating after losing her eyes, and the other is regenerating after being reduced to a pool of liquid.

Smoke Bombs

As explained above, these smoke bombs were given by Mao Mao and can be used to irritate enemies and flee if necessary.

Mega Mechanism

The Mega Mechanism made by Badgerclops for Adorabat has different uses, such as flying faster, firing lasers and missiles, creating shields, electrocuting anyone who tries to touch it and is not an authorized user, and other abilities shared with Badgerclops' arm.

Emphatic Manipulation

After making a wish to the pure-hearted ruby, Adorabat gained a new power: that of being incredibly rude. Her rude words literally hurt others, as they burn, and it is a real power, as it pushes enemies away and shoots out like a blast of energy that alters the enemy's emotions to cause them both physical and emotional pain and make them surrender in battle.

Scaling

Badgerclops & Adorabat

Mao Mao is clearly the strongest and fastest member of the Sheriff's department, as a single blow can leave Badgerclops gasping for air and crying on the ground, and he is so fast that Badgerclops and Adorabat cannot react to him, so he scales all of their feats

Badgerclops can...

Adorabat can...

Sky pirates

“We’re okay!

I mean Mao Mao kicks their asses every day…

Orangusnake can…

Boss Hosstrich can...

All of them can…

Several Monsters

Mao Mao has defeated countless monsters literally every day, and they have interesting feats, such as…

Mao Family (Debatable)

Although Mao Mao is the youngest in the family, that doesn't mean he should be underestimated, as he defeated Shell Monster, who beat Shin Mao with a single attack. Shin Mao is the most powerful member of the family and is responsible for training all of Mao Mao's sisters

Ruby Pure Heart

The legendary ruby that protects the valley is a mythical object. Although Mao Mao has not faced it, he has faced beings amplified by the ruby's power on three separate occasions, and Mao Mao's arrival in the village caused a crack when he broke the ruby

Weaknesses

I'll be blunt. Mao Mao has no physical weaknesses—he is a legendary warrior, after all—but all his weaknesses are emotional. Mao Mao is incredibly stubborn, no matter how intelligent and skilled he may be, and although this is no longer a weakness since he has overcome it, Mao Mao relied heavily on his instincts, becoming so overconfident that he became careless in fights and almost got hurt, ignoring obvious signs that he was wrong in order to trust his instincts. Due to his difficult upbringing and childhood, Mao Mao is full of insecurities. He is emotionally fragile and impulsive, exaggerating his reactions, such as vomiting because of his fear of a puppet, or literally exploding when he sees Bao Bao abandoning him again.

Q&A Section

FTL Mao Mao

This is definitely the most important section in this blog and for Mao Mao's scaling, as Mao Mao's speed depends on it. First of all, there are many feats about reacting to lasers in the show, which have been mentioned in feats and scaling, but the important part is to talk about the nature and behavior of these attacks.

Badgerclops very clearly calls them Laser Beams, and instead of exploding, they bounce off surfaces such as Orangusnake's crystal axeOrangusnake's magic armor, and Orangusnake's magic shield.

There are cases of lasers exploding, but these are completely unrelated to Badgerclops' lasers, such as the red lasers Mao Mao uses for training, or the sky pirates' laser that would blow up the ruby, but this laser is not light, it is plasma, as explicitly stated. There is one case where Badgerclops' laser shows force, and that is his Badger Beam, which collides with and impacts the ice dragon's attack. However, it is clearly not a laser, as it had 100 times the power and instead of bouncing off like Badgerclops' normal lasers, it collided with the attack. This also debunks one of Adorabat's feats, which was flying faster than the ice dragon's "laser," resulting in 2.6c. However, these attacks collide instead of bouncing or reflecting.

However, despite the above, there is something to keep in mind: on one occasion, Mao Mao dodged Orangusnake's lasers, again referred to as lasers, which explode but meet other requirements, such as being literally light, because when one hit the ruby, it illuminated it but did no damage. and it's not that the pirates can't destroy or damage the ruby, since they have a weapon made for that purpose, but rather that this attack does not cause damage or destruction. It is called a laser and is also made of pure light, implying that, for some reason, light lasers can explode on Mao Mao. Yes, perhaps the lasers in the show do not meet every requirement, but they have more than enough. Parker Simmons is not a physicist to study the properties of light, but his intentions with these lasers are clear, as they bounce, travel in a straight line, are called lasers, and illuminate when reflected off a surface.

Something extra to mention is that the light in the show is not normally Frame 1. An example of this is when a monster ate Mao Mao and then we see the golden light emanating from its mouth. This light is not Frame 1 and, in fact, moves slower than the monster. Another example is the Lunar Lash, an explicit light attack from Geraldine, a sword of light, and even Shin Mao mentions that it emanates light. However, the attacks are not frame 1 at all, and the characters move in tandem with the light of the sword.

Arguments for them being light:

  • These lasers do not push things or demonstrate force, and they bounce off glass instead of exploding or destroying it
  • Explicitly called as “Laser Beam”
  • They move at the same speed as the Lunar Lash, an attack called everlasting light. Mao claims that Geraldine is the sword of everlasting light and does not destroy things with force, but only pierces and illuminates them

Arguments against:

  • It has been seen on multiple occasions that lasers in Mao Mao explode
  • Badgerclops' laser collided with the dragon's ice and exploded

Counter to the arguments against:

  • These lasers are not the same, as they have a completely different appearance, color, and behavior than Badgerclops lasers
  • Not all Badgerclops attacks are the same, the Badgerbeam clearly has force and destroys things, while his normal lasers do not destroy things and bounce off
  • The Badger Beam is not a laser, but a much more powerful attack that multiplies power and is intended to destroy the dragon
  • Despite exploding, Orangusnake lasers are literally light that illuminates whatever they touch

But that's not all, because in addition to dodging lasers, there are two multipliers that apply to Mao Mao's speed:

One is the Aerocycle, whose quantum boosters make it three times faster than normal. This matters because the Aerocycle is faster than the main trio, as Badgerclops says that the Aerocycle is better than traveling on foot, which makes sense because they use it to get to emergencies as quickly as possible. Mao Mao's speed when traveling is comparable to his speed in combat, as he runs away from the ice dragon's attacks and dodges lasers while running. Adorabat flies much faster than the ice dragon's attacks, and Mao Mao runs so fast that he speedblitzes Badgerclops and Adorabat's reaction. How does Mao Mao scale this? It's easy, Mao Mao piloted the powered Aerocycle to reach Tanya Keys' motorcycle, jumped to reach the motorcycle, and before falling off it in mid-flight, Tanya caught him in time. Tripling the greatest feat seen in Mao Mao (Orangusnake dodging a laser calculated at 1.288c), Mao Mao's reaction and combat speed reaches 3.864c

The second is the Golden Truth Form, which, according to The Perfect Adventure, doubles Mao Mao's speed, which makes sense because Mao Mao is much faster in this form. This gives him a speed of 2.576c when traveling and 7.728c when reacting and fighting

About multipliers…

I'll be honest; this is the biggest problem I have with the Mao Mao vs. Puss blog, since most of Mao Mao's multipliers are wrong and fall into Calc Stacking, for example, increasing Mao Mao's stats by comparing his base state with his giant form, when it's simpler to calculate his giant stats based on pure size and not multipliers, which was already done and ended up with a much lower result.

There are two valid multipliers, one was explained in the speed section, and the other comes from the ice dragon. To finish off the dragon, Badgerclops uses his Badger Beam, which has 100 times the power, but the ice dragon easily deflects it. There are two ways for someone to scale this (besides Badgerclops using his Badger Beam, of course). One is Mao Mao in his sick form, who not only hit the dragon from the inside, but sneezed so hard that he made the dragon explode and survived being in the center of the explosion. Being a weak transformation, while Golden Truth Form is much more impressive, to the point that Badgerclops wonders if Mao Mao could do it again because it makes his job easier despite having seen Mao Mao sick, it makes Mao Mao's transformations scale to this multiplier.

The second is to argue that the characters in their base state should scale, and listen to my explanation. There are several reasons to scale everyone up to the ice dragon:

Yes, it would normally be an outlier for characters to magically scale to attacks 100 times their base power, but it's not that crazy. Mao Mao has proven to become much stronger and evolve in a short amount of time, such as in…

All these examples show that Mao Mao evolves and becomes much stronger when necessary, adapting quickly to other characters. The fact that Mao can scale to a much more powerful attack may be because he is constantly pushing his own limits and becoming stronger and faster.

As for the multiplier level, Base Mao Mao should scale to the ice dragon making giant ice spikes (543 kilotons), the destruction of Shell Monster (11.5 megatons), or the dragon freezing Valley (571.6 kilotons to 286.3 megatons), which places him between:

57.160 Megatons

1.150 Gigatons

28.630 Gigatons

This is the maximum achievable by Mao Mao.

Mao Mao’s Regeneration

Mao Mao's regeneration has been a somewhat controversial topic, as there is evidence both for and against his incredible regenerative abilities.

The main argument against it comes from the chapter where we meet Bao Bao. Mao Mao tells his story with Bao Bao, and in that story, he talks about how he permanently lost his tail when it was crushed by a rock. Mao Mao never regained his tail, and in fact, he still has a remaining part of it. While this is clear evidence that Mao Mao cannot regenerate missing parts, there are several examples that prove otherwise and are, in fact, more consistent:

  • Mao Mao recovers after being run over and crushed and having broken legs and arms
  • Mao Mao breaks some of his bones and ends up in the hospital, but after constantly fighting Orangusnake, he literally breaks every bone in his skeleton, leaving him reduced to a flat jellyfish that returned to normal after a day of rest. This took a day, but it is a case of massive regeneration since no one could survive with their entire skeleton destroyed
  • Mao Mao explodes and regenerates from dust in an instant. You could say that this is a non-real gag to represent his anger, but that would ignore Mao Mao's statement at the beginning of the chapter, where he says that he could literally explode. By saying “literally,” he makes it clear that this explosion is totally real, and in fact, we have seen on more than one occasion that the gags in the series are real and other characters are aware of them. You could also say that Mao Mao could simply generate an explosion without being damaged, but this explosion is clearly Mao Mao himself, as it has the shape of his head and speaks in his place, and Mao Mao says that he could explode, not just generate an explosion, but that his entire body explodes, and he made this twice

Now, with the two cases that contradict Mao Mao having such high regeneration, one is having his tail cut off, and the other is taking a day to regenerate his skeleton, but there is something here: regenerating his entire skeleton on his own and ending up as a jellyfish is a much greater feat than regenerating a lost part, and this is not a gag, it is literally the plot of an entire episode, which already contradicts the first argument against it. Second, Mao Mao's regeneration is more than inconsistent, as we saw him regenerate his broken teeth in an instant, but in the next episode, he needs to go to the dentist because some of his teeth are cracked. and this is not limited to him, but also to other characters, such as Adorabat, who can regenerate missing parts such as her eyes, or return to normal after being reduced to liquid, but it is implied that she could not regenerate a severed wing and is afraid of having a leg cut off, even though her examples of regeneration are much greater than the regeneration required to ignore that.

As for why gags are used for regeneration cases, these are explicitly canon and there are several examples:

With the gags being canonical, we can conclude that regeneration in Mao Mao is inconsistent for several characters, as they regenerate from things they normally couldn't, and one of these cases is literally the plot of an entire episode. Therefore, the major Regeneration Ends for the characters will be taken into account despite the contradictions, because wanting to ignore contradictions is literally wanting to ignore the plot of an episode.

Is Lunar Lash dura neg?

Potentially.

The attacks in Mao Mao have properties that strongly suggest they are a case of negating durability, such as the fact that Lunar Lash easily disintegrated the Shell Monster, a monster that endangered Shin Mao, someone superior to Mao Mao and all his sisters. While you could say that Lunar Lash is just a more powerful attack than normal, this would not make sense, as it is not a destructive power, it is pure light, which did not destroy the roof of the house, it just passed through it and illuminated everything around it. This attack passes through enemies without causing destructive damage, it just passes through them and seconds later atomizes them until there is absolutely nothing left. Lunar Lash does not destroy or have force, it is light that passes through enemies and then disintegrates them without leaving anything behind and ignoring durability.

UNIVERSAL MAO MAO

During Orangusnake Begins, after obtaining the power of the Ruby Pure Heart, Orangusnake says:

“For I have been chosen by the Ruby Pure Heart to bring about a reign of terror until the universe crumbles to dust!”

This statement is quite massive if taken literally, which is probably possible. Orangusnake does not say that the universe is under threat or make some generic statement, but rather that it will crumble into dust, an incredibly explicit form of destruction. Orangusnake is a reliable source, as this power seems to have given him knowledge by mentioning that he was chosen by the Ruby, which he should not know, and this is clearly through his power, as Badgerclops says, “Yeah, but should we be freaked out that he said the Ruby Pure Heart gave him his power?” So, being a reliable source and being amplified by the ruby, Orangusnake claims that he will reduce the universe to dust through his power, and the timeframe could be a problem, but the ruby did not give him immortality, so it should be done in a relatively short period of time, which regardless of whether it is years, would be an absolutely enormous result. Mao Mao can easily scale up, as he withstood a stomp from Mechahossarafforangusnakerrang and then a kick, or at least should scale to Badgerclops' shields, which protected all three from a kick. This power was also given by the ruby, which Mao Mao broke when he collided with it and defeated Adorabat amplified by the power of the ruby.

The problem?

Yeah if you use this then it’s a massive outlier lol simple as that

Possible matchups

Mao Mao VS Puss In Boots

(Thumnbail by Hyper)

First of all DUDE FUCK YES and second this is the only good opponent for Mao Mao imo, so it’s the only matchup here, sad…

Where to even start? This matchup is PERFECT in every possible way, starting with the theme—it's the only Mao Mao matchup that emphasizes his family past, how both Mao Mao and Puss want to make their parents proud and hide their insecurities behind their bold personalities, and even more specific things like why Mao Mao protects the kingdom, just like Puss, who broke the protection of the town of San Lorenzo in the show and is forced to protect it from bandits who want to steal the treasure of the legendary town.

Their groups also have some pretty curious similarities, not to mention the contrast; Mao Mao is a righteous Sheriff, Puss is a bandit who used to steal and kill for hire, and though both are heroes, it's still a figure of justice against a wanted criminal, not to mention that this ties right into Mao Mao's main motivation: he wants to become a legend and will do whatever it takes to achieve it, Puss is a living legend recognized by everyone with a huge bounty on his head, Mao Mao wouldn't just want to beat him for being a wanted outlaw, but it's a guaranteed ticket to becoming a legend, the legend of the one who forever defeated the legendary Puss in Boots.

The dynamic is one of the best parts, not just because I love the musketeer vs. samurai dynamic, but because it's an incredible sword fight and the external arsenal makes it even better. Mao Mao massively outclasses everything Puss can do in the movies by being way more exaggerated, but Puss's show fixes that, since Puss is much more versatile, has more arsenal, and a greater scale in his fighting style, being able to use giant weapons or send people flying; Puss can perfectly match what Mao can do, and giving them both transformations makes it even better, with Mao using his Golden Truth Form vs. Puss using the powers of Toutatis and Taranis, both able to fly and fight in the sky, plus shoot light and lasers.

On top of that, my friend Spectral wrote a script, go read it!

As for the debate... I'm going to be totally honest. Puss has no way to win even if he took the stats massively, since Mao Mao has a counter to everything Puss has:

  • Fart Wand: Mao Mao resisted Badgerclops's smell, which is as bad or worse than Shrek's, plus he has a gas mask to not be affected
  • Transmutation: Ignoring that Mao Mao has better transmutation that would affect the cat just by touching him, Mao Mao returned to normal after being turned to stone before, and the problem is that effect isn't permanent, the victims keep their speed and if Puss doesn't kill them fast enough, Mao will return to normal. Regardless of what you think of Puss's speed, Mao Mao is much faster in travel speed, being faster than light, and all of Puss's feats are purely reaction or combat, he can't run faster than light, so Mao Mao can get away without the slightest problem before Puss can even do anything. Of course, all this assumes killing Mao turned into a frog would work, since once the 30 seconds pass, the dead frog will turn back into Mao Mao, who can regenerate in an instant, or even then, Puss can't attack Mao's soul or negate his regeneration, so the soul would just wait for the remains of his body to regenerate, since Puss can't destroy dust
  • Freeze: This already happened to Mao Mao, and it only gave him a transformation 100 times more powerful, with much more AoE and a passive fire aura that prevents Puss from touching Mao.
  • Cute Eyes: Puss never used this as a wincon, just as a distraction before attacking again, and Mao Mao adapted to Adorabat's Empathic Manipulation, adapting to Puss wouldn't be any problem

Even if Puss took the stats by a huge margin, Mao Mao has a thousand ways to ignore his durability or incapacitate him, these are…

  • Heat: Mao Mao can generate a fire shield around himself, and knowing Puss died from the heat of an oven, he wouldn't have any way to kill Mao Mao. This is worse in his sick form, since that shield is passive and much larger in size, with standard rules, Mao can acquire this form since Puss has freeze power-ups, the reason Mao got sick, and with Death Battle rules, Mao Mao objectively wins since you're not allowed to kill the opponent without them reaching their transformations
  • MAO SICKNESS: Unlike Mao Mao, Puss doesn't have a metabolism that gives him powers when sick, so getting infected would make him much weaker to the point he couldn't do anything to Mao Mao with raw strength
  • Paralysis: Self-explanatory, Golden Truth Form can paralyze Puss with its light attack
  • BFR: Regardless of AP, Mao Mao has a massive advantage in Lifting Strength (Class M >>>> Class 100), and if throwing giant monsters is no problem, throwing someone with the weight of a normal cat isn't either. Puss doesn't have good travel speed, so even if he wants to return to the fight, he won't do it in time, and Mao Mao can do this by touching Puss just once, which is how 90% of his fights end
  • Pressure Point: Mao Mao can put Puss to sleep, simple
  • Lunar Lash: As explained earlier, Lunar Lash ignores durability by passing through enemies without physical damage and disintegrating them to nothing
  • Snow-Ball: Though this effect is temporary, Mao Mao can take those seconds to destroy Puss while he's a snowman
  • Badgerclops and Adorabat: Mao Mao can summon them, so it's no extra to say Adorabat can use her hurtful words to make Puss surrender, Badgerclops can shoot fire and incapacitate Puss in a jelly block

Add to all that, Puss has no way to ignore Mao Mao's regeneration that can come back after being reduced to dust, since even if he took the AP, he'd need an AoE that covers Mao Mao's entire body, which is impossible against Mao Mao's giant form, of course, that assuming you believe Puss can atomize enemies with his attacks instead of just stabbing Mao, from which he can regenerate, and fighting 3 vs 1 doesn't help him either, since Adorabat has regeneration he can't ignore

“Another flawless victory where I did everything right.”

Final Words

Morta

Meow.

Morta here, and I'm here to say two things. First of all, thank you for reading this far, and I hope you enjoyed the blog. Mao Mao is my third favorite character of all time, and I wanted to honor the character with this analysis, since I rewatched the show with a friend and my partner and remembered how much I love the character and this show with all my heart. You should definitely give it a try!

Second, I want to apologize for the delay in Homer VS Peter. It's not an easy blog to research, and there's a lot of content to go through, but on top of that, I made many attempts to resume the research, but the vast majority of the blog's researchers have made very little progress or are simply not responding. The blog will go ahead, it will not be canceled, and although I am doing my best to move forward with everything, it is not my decision whether or not this will happen, it is that of the entire research team who have more important things to do. In any case, we will probably start working on another blog in the meantime, as we have several confirmed and we don't want to leave yall without new blogs. Thank you for your understanding and patience, and thank you for reading!

I love you Mao Mao!
